Tip Process
The USAFRICOM DoWRP offers financial rewards, or rewards in-kind, to individuals who provide useful information on terrorism and planned attacks against the U.S. and allied forces in Africa. The identity of tipsters is kept strictly confidential.
The more unique and important the information, the higher the potential value of the reward. Assessing the reward value depends on many different factors that will be considered by USAFRICOM officials during the reward validation process.
- 1 Individuals can submit information confidentially via the tip form, or via a local phone number.
- 2 After a tip is received, the information is translated and shared with USAFRICOM for vetting. Due to the high volume of tips USAFRICOM receives, it may take some time to process your tip. Please be assured that your tip will be reviewed in due course.
- 3 If the information is verified and valuable, USAFRICOM will contact the tipster, who may qualify for a reward up to $5,000,000 USD.

Terrorist Activity
Information about planned attacks or attacks already committed on U.S. bases or properties, U.S. and allied forces, or U.S. citizens, along with the identities and locations of the individuals or organizations responsible.
Terrorist Group Operations
Information on terrorist group operations, such as details about their financing, semi-legitimate business operations, or threats.
Weapons
Locations of weapons, unmanned aerial system equipment, explosives, or chemical weapons that have been potentially be used to target U.S. Military, U.S. Allies or your local military – including locations of persons involved and smuggling routes.
Smuggling
Locations of persons involved in the smuggling, production, storage or launch of drones, rockets or missiles used to attack marine vessels.
Other Information
Any information that may be useful to the U.S. military or its allies.

What authorities does the Department of War have to conduct the DoWRP?
The authority to conduct the DoWRP is the United States Code, 2012 Edition, Supplement 4, Title 10 – ARMED FORCES, Subtitle A – General Military Law, PART 1 – ORGANIZATION AND GENERAL MILITARY POWERS, CHAPTER 3 – GENERAL POWERS AND FUNCTIONS, Sec. 127b – Department of War Rewards Program.
How are reward payment amounts determined?
The USAFRICOM DoWRP pays monetary rewards, or rewards in kind. Amounts vary depending on the quality of the information, its value to U.S. and allied operations, and the level of threat prevented or eliminated. The more unique and important the information, the higher the value of the reward.
How are reward payments paid?
Once a tip has been investigated and proven to be useful and verifiably true, a USAFRICOM DoWRP official will contact the individual discreetly and reward them accordingly with a monetary reward or reward in kind. Most rewards are paid in cash.
What kind of information does the program look for? What information will be rewarded?
The USAFRICOM DoWRP offers rewards for information and nonlethal assistance that enables U.S. and allied forces to combat terrorism as well as protect U.S. and allied forces from planned attacks. An example would be warning the U.S. Government of an imminent threat to U.S. or allied forces or reporting on individuals responsible for past or planned attacks on U.S. and allied forces.
